If I can know what he/she is thinking

If I can know what he/she is thinking...

A desire that I believe everyone has or had before.

I recalled of an episode of Fringe that I have watched recently. Olivia Dunham always wants to know what Peter Bishop's thinking (is she the Olivia that Peter loves or the one from the parallel world?) until she met another Cotexiphan* test subject, who has the ability to mind-read.

But, the ability has made him isolated himself from people. He couldn't talk to anyone.

Toward the end of the episode, he told Olivia, We're not suppose to know what people think. And, he passed a letter to Olivia, about what he read from Peter's mind. He said, This is what it's like to be me.

Guessing one's mind or being a detective to rationalise one's act or saying is not an easy game. It consumes your time, your energy, your life for a never-concluded answer.

But, we just love to be part of it.

Why not just go ahead and ask for the truth? Because, we're scared. The in-born protective ability prevents us from getting hurt stops us from approaching the truth. We prefer to do it in our brain, in the imaginary world that we might receive minimal damage.

Perhaps also it is the little uncertainty that keeps us moving or at least standing and still not giving up. That's the hope that we hold. That's why we're still bonding with people.

Don't let the truth shatters everything too early. Truth sometime isn't the sole answer for everything but the faith that we hold on is.

And, I hold on to the little faith I have.

*Cotexiphan is an experimental drug that prevent limitation of subject's brain power and induces abilities among them.
